Show reel
I am now in the process of drawing together my project and completing my work. The final thing that I am currently doing is my show reel and it will consist of a slide show featuring all my comic paintings. It will last 30 seconds and is being compiled in Adobe After Effects.
Storyboard / Comic strip
I have drawn and planned out all the pages of my comic strip. It spans a total of 8 pages each featuring three comic cells which I have individually drawn and painted. I drew these out on paper first to deign the layout and the text that would appear on them. Then painted over the basic sketch refining the line of the drawings and colouring them in as well as adding the text that explains each picture. Here is an example of one of the drawn out pages.

Here is a second example of what the same image looks like after I have coloured it in and put on the text.
I have used this same process to colour the other eight frames, completing my comic.

More Photoshop work
Here are the two most recent Photoshop pieces that I have completed. This makes the five that I set out to do at the beginning of the term. I may do more if I have time but at the moment my efforts are focussed on my comic and other concepts for props and level layouts.
This first one is a concept for the entrance to Hathor's labyrinth after Edward has discovered and built a little entrance way inside. The second is the completed environment piece from the previous post.

Comic strip..
As part of the storyboards for my project I have decided to create a short comic strip that explains the back story to my game. This might be the might be the sort of thing that comes with the manual of a game as an extra. It explains the story of Hathor and what happened to her. I was going to have this in the opening cut scene but instead decided to base the game entirely in Edward's time, this also gave me an interesting set of pictures to draw an colour.

Drawing together research
Over the past weekend I collated all my research into designated folders and turned all my word documents into PDFs. This didn't take long and made all my folders much tidier and easy to navigate. As well as writing I also put my pictures into PDF as well rather than having them all loose in folders.

Organizing Research
Over the past two days I have organized all my work in to appropriate folders with specific read-mes that explain why I have chosen or done the work in the related folder. As well as this I have finished all of my game reviews of which there are 7. These research documents consist of a basic and simple review of the game and then what interested me about the game in order to study it for my research. This includes my thoughts on the games itself and why particular parts of it are effective. I had to spend a lot of time playing each game to discern some of the things that I have chosen to address and subsequently this is what a lot of my time went into over the course of the term.
As well as this I have made some final changes to my game document including new characters and motives for my main character. Even though the setting must be convincing and the environment believable my character must have some depth as well in order to make him be engaging as well as making the player want to complete the story of the game. I have gone through all these aspects of the story in the game document as well as aspects of game mechanics and menu screens etc.
As I think I said before the game document has been compiled from two different resources on creating a a game document one given to me in the first year and the second from the second years course handbook. As the one I was using from the first year could be slightly out of date I used two to compile a more realistic table of contents.

The Tomb Continued ....
Over the past week I have been really focussing on The Tomb book. As well as maps the book goes into detail about the culture behind the layouts of the tombs and why they are arranged that way. It also goes into detail about burial locations and where sites are most likely to be. This will be good when I decide which bank of the Nile upon which to set my game. Setting is all important, and was the most forward thought in the mind of the man who wanted to build his final resting place.
